Anecdotally, many patients report the relaxing effects of osteopathic treatment.
In terms of symptoms which often accompany stress, such as digestive upsets, neck-related headaches, tension and inability to relax, sufficient evidence exists for osteopathy to be recognised as potentially effective by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Additionally, although there is the need for further studies, recent research evidence* seems to indicate the benefits of osteopathy forreducing stress, alleviating anxiety symptoms, and enhancing mood.
Osteopathy focuses on the "patient as a whole" and, therefore, we will listen to concerns you may have - both health and non-health related - in considering how we might help you. When working with patients suffering from stress, our treatment focuses on reducing musculoskeletal tension and, of course, providing a "sympathetic ear" - although please note that we are NOT trained counsellors. Where we believe that counselling or further medical intervention is necessary, we may recommend this or refer you back to your GP.
If you would like to discuss how we might help you with stress-related symptoms, please give us a call on 020 8954 3967. Alternatively, send us a message on the form below and we will contact you, usually within 72 hours.
